Traffic Analysis using MRTG

Monday, June 19, 2006

I have just finished configuring MRTG - the multirouter traffic grapher. It is running on Fedora Core 5 and it is producing very beautiful graphs on how our network(The Polytechnic campus) utilizes the 128/64 kbps download/upload bandwidth capacity. It is very clear that the 128 kbps download capacity is not enough. The realtime graphs can be accessed at this link:

The Short Poem ...

Monday, May 22, 2006

This is one of my pictures taken on some day of the month of May in the year of our Lord, 2006.

I will remember this day for this short poem somebody sent me:

Stars don't struggle to shine,
Neither do rivers struggle to flow,
The power of the Lord keeps them shining and flowing,
Keep your faith in the Lord,
He will keep you shining and flowing.

IBM ThinkPad Laptop failing to boot

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

My friend Visopo Harawa brought me his IBM ThinkPad Laptop which was failing to boot. The power LED was indicating that power was coming to the system.

After trying this and that, I realised that the battery completely packed and it was breaking the circuit to power the system. I jumped with joy after the machine rebooted smoothly after removing the battery and retightened some screws on the motherboard. A laptop running without a backup battery?? Yes!! Half a loaf is better than none.
